Elevator Pitch

I decided to write down a general elevator pitch:

Nice to see you, my name is Anna and I've been working on a new app called Simple Music that aims to increase accessibility to music for seniors. According the US Census Bureau, 21% of the US population will be over the age 65 by 2030; that's nearly a quarter of the total US population. Elderly are vulnerable, too often taken advantage of or forgotten and growing faster than ever; so, it is imperative that our generation focuses on protecting and improving their quality of life.

The effects of natural aging include poor eye-site, poor short-term memory, poor motor control and many other barriers to the virtual world. Music apps today are cluttered with tons of extra modern features as well as annoying on-screen ads that are too easy to click by accident. These apps may be easy to navigate for the younger generations, but often leave elderly folks feeling overwhelmed, self-deprecated and frustrated hence excluding an entire population from music on their phone. Simple Music aims to empower the aging population with access to music through a simple and safe interface. The system and design accommodate many of the physical and societal barriers to music that the natural aging process incurs, putting the well-being of people first. Let's change the world for the better and make a lot of money while we're at it. Would you be willing to discuss more about a potential investment in Simple Music?

I think that a lot of people would be inspired by the idea of making the world a better place. I think that making that the focus is really important. One thing I learned is the importance of separating the users from the customers. The users will be all elderly, but customers will be both elderly, caretakers and potentially nursing homes. I also liked the idea of selling to nursing homes for a discounted price. Since the facility is offering it for free, will not have to fear putting in their credit card information or buying something and then getting scammed. In addition, seniors would have increased faith that the app is reliable since their facility is vouching for its integrity. Initially, I had no idea what could possibly stop other people from copying my product, but this is a trade-secret that could be quite successful!

I also learned to be well-versed on the target market, money needed to launch, money needed to sustain, amount requested, how much am I willing to invest myself, exit strategy, etc.
